About Our Practice

David Lowenstein DC, LAc, MA, MS, CMA, DTR is the Director, Chiropractic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist at the Blue Rock Center, serving Arizona from the same location since 1991. He has a B.F.A. - Bachelors degree from Arizona State University, M.A. - Masters Degree from Ohio State University and a M.S. - Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture, Nationally Certified as a Diplomate in both Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork Therapy with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine . Dr. Lowenstein is a Certified Instructor and Practitioner of Zen Shiatsu with the American Organization for Bodyworks Therapies of Asia and was a founding member, a past President and Vice President. Dr. Lowenstein has taught and practiced Zen Shiatsu for over 25 years, a graduate of the Ohashi Institute of Shiatsu, he was certified to practice Zen Shiatsu by world renowned Shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi in 1983 He has studied with Eido Roshi of DaiBosatsu and Kyudo Roshi of Ryutakuji, Japan. Dr. Lowenstein specialties include Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Gua Sha, Medical Qi Gong, Zen Shiatsu, Movement Therapy and Physiotherapies .

Dr. Lowenstein was awarded a Graduate Associateship at Ohio State University to complete his Masters Degree in Movement Analysis and Choreography. At New York University, Dr. Lowenstein was awarded a SEHNAP Fellowship to research and teach Body Movement Therapies for his PhD program. He completed his internship in Dance/Movement Therapy at Bellevue Hospital in New York City where he successfully met the requirements for registry with the American Dance/Movement Therapy Association as a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist Dr. Lowenstein is a Certified Movement Analyst , completing the post graduate training program at Laban/Bartenieff Center for Movement Studies in New York City He is also Certified by the Arizona State Community College Board to Teach Biological Sciences at the College level.

Dr. Lowenstein became a Primary Care Physician in Chiropractic after being the recipient of the prestigious Gonstead Scholarship; awarded annually to one person in the U.S covering full tuition, books and stipend for his Chiropractic education. Graduating with honors from the Cleveland Chiropractic College, Dr. Lowenstein is a Primary Care Physician, state licensed by both Arizona Acupuncture and Chiropractic Boards of Examiners to practice Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Physiotherapy. Dr. Lowenstein is also the Director of the Shiatsu Education Center of Arizona.
