About Our Practice

I have practiced in Augusta, GA since 2000 and have completed a combined Orthopaedic/Neurosurgery Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at New York University where I also completed my residency training in Neurological Surgery. As Director of the Neurosurgery Spine Service at the Medical College of Geogia in Augusta. I perform a variety of complicated spine surgeries. Conditions treated include, but are not limited to: Complex Spine Surgery, Cervical Spine Surgery, Thoracic Spine Surgery, Lumbar Spine Surgery, Revision/Reoperative Spine Surgery, Spine Tumors (Metastatic and Primary), Neck and Arm Pain, Low back pain, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Endoscopic Spine Surgery, Scoliosis/Deformity Surgery, Craniocervical Junction Surgery, Occipital Cervical Fusion, Spinal Fusion, Thoracic Discectomy, Spinal Stenosis, Spondylolysis/Spondylolisthesis, Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy, Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament, Spinal Vascular Lesions, Surgery for Spine Trauma/fractures, Image Guided Spine Surgery. We have an active program in Bloodless Medicine. The Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia is seeking candidates for fellowships in Complex Spinal surgery under the direction of Haroon F. Choudhri MD beginning July 1, 2008. Positions are available for a combined research and clinical fellowship in spinal disease. The Neurosurgery Spine Service treats a large number of cases in all areas of spinal pathology including degenerative disease, tumors, trauma, infection and spinal deformity. Many cases involve the thoracic spine as well as complex revision surgery. Fellows will participate in a large number of transthoracic/retroperitoneal surgeries as well as minimally invasive/endoscopic cases. During the program, fellows will assume increasing responsibility in surgical cases including teaching of residents in Neurosurgery. Current clinical projects include: vertical distraction cages in spinal reconstruction, minimally invasive posterior cervical surgery, and minimally invasive TLIF.
